Doctoral and Master’s Program Emergency Funding

From time-to-time special circumstances arise that require special funding.  The Office of Graduate Education and/or the Rackham Graduate School have limited funds to help in such cases.  The Rackham Graduate Student Emergency Fund is intended to help meet the financial needs of Rackham graduate students who encounter an emergency situation or one-time, unusual, or unforeseen expenses during their degree program: https://www.rackham.umich.edu/prospective-students/funding/student-application/graduate-student-emergency-funds.  The College of Engineering Graduate Student Emergency Fund follows the Rackham funding guidelines and is intended to help meet the financial needs of any Michigan Engineering graduate student who encounters an emergency situation or one-time, unusual, or unforeseen expenses during their degree program.  Emergency funding requests can be made to the Associate Dean for Graduate Education by the graduate chair or her/his designee, the College of Engineering Office of Student Affairs, or the Rackham Graduate Student Resolution Officer.  Students who would like to discuss emergency funding issues confidentially should contact:

  • Rackham Students: Darlene Ray-Johnson (rayj@umich.edu, 734.936.1647), Rackham Resolution Officer
  • M.Eng or Rackham Students: Angie Farrehi (afarrehi@umich.edu, 734.615.1405), College of Engineering Director for Office of Student Support and Accountability

To request emergency support, the graduate chair or his/her designee should submit a CoE-Student-Financial-Assistance-Request to Tiffany Porties (stonestr@umich.edu).
